EchoStar has chosen the Harris Broadcast Communications OSi-Traffic broadcast inventory management and accounting solution for DishHome Mosaic, a channel consisting of six on-screen video windows, each displaying what’s on a different channel at that moment.
Viewers can regularly refresh the windows (on Dish Channel 100) with six new programming offerings. During transition breaks between programming changes, commercials play on all six windows. More ads can run on a video banner in the upper-right corner of the screen, and a scrolling ticker at the bottom of the screen can carry still more ads.
OSi-Traffic will manage the ad sales, commercial insertions and billing for DishHome, which launched in August 2005.
“OSi-Traffic was chosen for its unique ability to manage the traffic related to multiple on-screen events simultaneously,” said Ed Adams, vice president and general manager of North American Media for Harris Broadcast. “In the case of DishHome, the primary event is the six-window mosaic, and the secondary events are the interactive video banners and the DishHome video background.”
OSi-Traffic is part of the Harris “One” initiative to deliver interoperable workflow solutions that span the entire broadcast delivery chain.
