Harris Gear Picked for 3 Gbps Truck

Harris Corp. has announced that Metrovision Production Group has selected a number of Harris 3 Gbps products to equip its new 40-foot HD mobile production vehicle that Metrovision is building in a partnership with the Yankees Entertainment and Sports (YES) Network.

The new expando truck is also being fitted with Ku-band satellite capability and Metrovision says that this will make it the country’s largest hybrid production/Ku mobile unit. Harris gear chosen for the project includes X50 synchronizer/converters, the Videotek Compact Monitor Series and Platinum video and audio routers.

“We chose Harris to support our first partnership with YES Network because their portfolio offers some of the industry’s most advanced broadcast technology, as well as seamless interoperability that makes their solutions ideal for space-constrained production environments,” said Jim McGillion, Metrovision’s president. “We’d been very satisfied users of Harris 1RU processors for some time, and had been waiting for them to introduce a cost-effective, standard version. We were pleased to see the launch of the X50, which offers absolutely everything--including optional 3 Gbps--at an unbeatable price point.”

The new truck will be used to produce programming for all of the YES Network’s collegiate football and basketball coverage, as well as for Yankee’s pre- and post-game shows.
