Gascom chooses Scopus compression system

The Scopus Intelligent Video Gateway is a high-capacity digital video processing platform that provides a cost-effective solution for delivering digital TV content.

Russian communications company Gascom has selected Scopus Video Networks to supply and install a complete headend for transmission of compressed video over a multi-transponder satellite infrastructure. The move will significantly expand Gascom’s uplink capabilities. It is the third Gascom uplink project that Scopus has been awarded.

The new multi-transponder headend compression system, installed through The Telco Group, has increased Gascom’s capabilities from 24 to 50 channels by deploying a larger number of transponders. The system selected by Gascom comprises Scopus’ E-1000 encoders, IVG-7X00 video gateways, and the NMS-4000 network management system.

The Intelligent Video Gateway (IVG) is a high-capacity digital video processing platform. The NMS-4000 is a comprehensive broadcast headend network management system that allows integrated monitoring, as well as configuring and controlling of compression systems. The NMS enables automatic redundancy in the headend.
