French broadcaster repurposes online content with Netia

The Comité Français de Radio-Télévision is using the Netia Manreo content management solution to support JDS.tv, a new online library featuring “Le Jour du Seigneur” (“Day of the Lord”), France's oldest broadcast program.

The Manreo system allows the staff to repurpose and organize more than 2000 hours of Catholic religious documentaries and news magazines, originally broadcast on the France 2 television network, for public access via the JDS.tv Web site.

The Comité Français de Radio-Télévision adds new content to JDS.tv weekly. Some of the older material has been stored on tape for the past 50 years, according to Bruno Luz, CIO at Le Jour du Seigneur.

Netia’s Manreo software allows content owners and producers to manage and add value to media through digitization, editing of raw footage, indexing, archiving and browsing. The software offers comprehensive tools for managing processes from acquisition to broadcast on multiple platforms and channels.

The Comité Français de Radio-Télévision is using several Manreo modules, including: the Hypercast Editor, which segments, indexes and catalogs all types of audio and video files; the Hypercast Encoding Service, which performs transcoding, FTP and LAN transfers, and notifies other systems at Comité Français de Radio-Télévision of the videos and sound being produced; and Manreo Café, which automates the entire video acquisition chain, from triggering recording via image recognition or according to a predefined program schedule to file encoding and transmission to remote servers.

Manreo’s Hypercast Warehouse module allows the company to centralize, share and view audio, image and video archives, and broadcast them across multiple distribution channels.
