Former WJLA Engineering Chief to Head Snell & Wilcox Inc.

Veteran broadcast engineering executive Mark A. Olingy was named president of Snell & Wilcox Inc. He comes to the company from WJLA-TV in Washington, D.C., where he served as director of engineering and operations since 1997. Olingy succeeds Dick Crippa, who held the title since April 2000 and has been promoted to executive chairman of the company.

While at WJLA, Olingy designed and managed the construction and systems integration of an IT-based television plant, among the largest of the nation's integrated MOS call letter broadcast stations, which provides outputs for up to eight simultaneous program channels. Additionally, Olingy has engineering and operations experience at WCBD-TV and WCIV-TV in Charleston, S.C., and at WBRE-TV in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. He had also worked in sales and business development positions for Philips and Harris.
