Former Daschle Aide Joins Cable Lobby Shop

The National Cable and Telecommunications Association has hired Rita Lewis as vice president for government relations. She had been working for bipartisan lobbying powerhouse The Washington Group (part of global PR giant Ketchum), where she represented NCTA as an outside consultant.

Prior to joining The Washington Group in 1998, Lewis was deputy executive director and political director for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (1995-98). She also served as the director of congressional affairs at the U.S. Department of Education (1993-95).

Before that, she worked for Tom Daschle (D-S.D.) when he was a member of the U.S. House and, later, a senator.

Lewis received a B.S. degree cum laude in business administration and mathematics from Winona State University in Minnesota.

“Rita has a keen understanding of the issues facing the industry and brings with her strong and deep relationships on Capitol Hill,” said Steve Vest, NCTA senior vice president of government relations.
