Emmy Engineering Award Goes to MobiTV, Sprint

MobiTV and Sprint Nextel have taken home the first Emmy Award for the wireless industry. Both companies have won the Emmy Engineering Award for Outstanding Achievement in Engineering Development.

"This achievement is an eye-opener to the industry that lets television executives know their audiences are living on other devices," said Brian Seth Hurst, co-governor of the Interactive Media Peer Group for the Television Academy. "I believe MobiTV set the standard and started the race for mobile television."

November 2003 marked the companies' launch of live mobile television delivery service, sparking demand for TV on-the-go, according to Sprint Nextel.
