Czech broadcaster implements digital newsroom environment

Czech Republic broadcaster Z1 is building out a new digital newsroom to support 24/7 news programming due to launch this summer.

One of a group of new national broadcasters licensed to provide digital terrestrial TV (DVB-T) service, Z1 is adding a variety of new technology to integrate a digital news production workflow into its operation. As part of the project, Z1 has acquired a Chyron LEX2 graphics system and CAMIO news graphics management system. Both will be integrated into the broadcaster’s Dalet newsroom system.

The HD/SD-switchable LEX2, which includes the Lyric PRO creation and playout application, will provide Z1 with a central graphics station with real-time 2-D/-3D animation, including lower-thirds, over-the-shoulder graphics and tickers.

According to Petr Cernega, head of the Z1 graphics department, the addition of Chyron solutions to the broadcaster’s digital news environment supports the workflow the broadcaster plans to achieve and delivers “the quality of graphical output” Z1 was seeking.

Chyron’s Czech Republic partner, Visual Connection, is providing integration services.
