Cox Communications Inc. has launched an HDTV service in its Las Vegas market, and plans to roll out more HDTV in other markets over the next several months.

Las Vegas is Cox's second HDTV deployment, and the first using completely integrated set-top technology. The service is available to approximately 600,000 homes and offers seven channels of HD content: the CBS and PBS affiliates, two HBO channels, two Showtime channels and Discovery High Definition Theater. Subscribers must rent an HDTV digital set-top box and remote control to use the services.
