Cohen Buys Back HTN Sports Network
By TVTechnology
published Sports and cable TV entrepreneur Joseph Cohen has acquired the Hughes Television Network from GlobeCast for the third time. He previously purchased the company in 1979 and again in 1986.
HTN, which provides TV, radio and cable transmission services to sports teams and networks, was the domestic sports group of GlobeCast America, a subsidiary of France Telecom. Cohen will establish HTN Communications with the acquisition, and own and operate the new group as chairman. The transaction was all-cash, but terms have not been disclosed.
Cohen plans to use the acquisition as a base from which to launch future purchases in sports, TV and communications.
