Chyron intros C-Mix HD graphics mixer

Chyron has generated quite a stir with its new C-Mix HD multilayer video mixer.

Up to four video and key input pairs, plus a background layer, can be combined in any order within the mixer, allowing layers to be both composited and blended. In addition, C-Mix has an SD output and a post-mix upconverted HD output. The mixer can also be controlled from Lyric, the company's content creation and playout software, or from an XML stand-alone application.

C-Mix HD allows news and sports programs to be produced in SD and immediately upconverted. Typical inputs to the C-Mix might include Duet LEX output channels, clip player and squeezeback card, or a stand-alone server. The mixer also enables powerful timeline-based mixing for both SD and HD feeds. The on-board high quality digital HD upconverter is format-selectable, enabling set and forget upconversion for any application.

The C-Mix HD, set to ship in June, offers a wide variety of features that include: two output channels (SD and HD); four video inputs with key, plus program video; relay bypass; analog genlock; USB control; individual fade control for each input (plus master fade control for the SD output); static composite, or dissolve/fade effects; and the ability to add composites or effects to the Lyric timeline, or saved as Mix messages for later message recall. (Timeline Add and Timeline Update are only supported when the interface is invoked from within Lyric.)
