CCTV installs 50 Miranda Kaleido multi-image processors

Chinese Central Television (CCTV) has installed 50 Miranda Technologies Kaleido multi-image display processors for monitoring two channels dedicated to the Beijing Olympics.

During the Beijing Olympics, CCTV HD will broadcast as the Olympic HD Channel and offer live coverage of all the events. Currently, eight Chinese cities, including Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Shenyang, Qingdao, Qinhuangdao, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, can receive HD programming.

At CCTV’s International Broadcast Center, two Kaleido-X processors and 17 smaller Kaleido-Alto-HD and Kaleido-Quad multiviewers have been installed for master control monitoring. Additionally, 25 Kaleido multi-image processors will be used across the Olympic stadiums for production monitoring.

CCTV’s new Television Cultural Center has also installed two Kaleido-X processors, which can display up to 160 feeds across eight plasma displays in the master control room. These multi-image outputs are also displayed across 32 monitors in four studios.

Two new HD OB trucks operated by CCTV also have been equipped with multiple Kaleido multiviewers.
