CBS Taps Orad for Motion Graphics at US Open Tennis Tournament

For the US Open, Flow Motion tracked the distances players ran during volleys, as well as the path of a player or the ball on selected shots, such as aces. CBS Sports deployed Orad's MVP graphics system to track and illustrate tennis players' movements at the US Open earlier this month.

Orad's "Flow Motion" feature in MVP tracks onscreen objects and freezes action, using frame overlays to show the positions of objects such as players. For the US Open, the system showed viewers the frame-by-frame kinetics of the match, illustrating the player's moves. Flow Motion tracked the distances players ran during volleys, as well as the path of a player or the ball on selected shots, such as aces.

MVP is a turnkey platform that provides comprehensive video and graphics enhancements to distinguish from the broadcast of any sporting event. It is SD and HD compatible and can be used for live productions and highlight shows and supports up to 16 different cameras. Flow Motion allows chronoscopic display of selected objects during replay. This allows the viewer to see a shadowed display of the object, enabling a vivid view of its path. Flow Motion can be used on any type of object.

In addition to Flow Motion, MVP also features "magnifying glass," which provides a super-tight zoom to allow viewers to see for themselves whether a controversial call was correct, along with a tracked telestrator, which enables commentators to illustrate with a freehand drawing how a play progressed over time. MVP also incorporates full design capabilities for 2D/3D graphic elements as well as the ability to import objects from 3D Max and Maya.
