Canal+ Poland enters the digital age

Poland's commercial broadcaster Canal+ has completed its transition to full-digital production for its sports broadcasting based around a Quantel Newsbox HD server-based production system. The broadcaster's soccer coverage, for which Canal+ has secured the Polish rights, is now being shot and post produced in HD.

The Quantel system installed at Canal+ includes 60 hours of storage, supports 10 editing and viewing workstations in addition to Quantel's sQ Record and sQ Play applications. Material can be ingested at four times realtime and the system also includes Quantel's Mission media asset management application, providing integrated access and management of media assets. Mission also handles archived as well as its online media assets for rapid access to all the material needed by Canal+ editors and producers.

The next phase in the upgrade project will involve extending its distribution to new media channels such as mobile devices and the internet. Quantel's Mission MAM system also supports re-purposing of material for distribution across multiple platforms.
