Cable-Tec Expo: Pace Introduces HD STB
Pace Micro Technology is demonstrating its all digital set-top box (model Miami DC757 HD) at the Society of Cable Television Engineers (SCTE) Cable-Tec Expo in Denver this week. Pace said the new HD box uses next-gen integrated silicon, supports legacy applications, utilizes DSG (Docsis 2.0 Set-Top Gateway) and CableCard for conditional access, and the latest in EPG and VOD applications.
The Miami STB connectivity options include HDMI; it supports 1394 5C protected interface, fast processing speeds and memory capacity, and Pace said it's designed for easy installation into any type of home theater system. Based in Saltaire, England, Pace has been a major satellite STB supplier to BSkyB in Europe for many years. The company said it expects to present its Miami box to CableLabs for certification in the fall.
