Samsung Electronics America and the National Football League have signed a multi-million dollar deal for the 2005-06 seasons that designates Samsung products as the "Official HDTV of the NFL." The recent New York City announcement (here at the midway point of the 2005 season) coincided with the launch of a Samsung national ad campaign to include TV commercials, print, online, and in-store displays featuring former NFL quarterbacks Dan Marino, Troy Aikman, Steve Young and Boomer Esiason.

Each pitchman will represent Samsung's four HD categories--LCD, plasma, DLP and SlimFit. Samsung did not reveal the cost of the campaign (or what it cost the company to seal the NFL endorsement deal), but said in a statement that it will have the ability to "leverage its NFL association" within the South Korean manufacturer's home audio entertainment, DVD player, and DVD recorder categories.
