Broadcasters use Avid Systems to Deliver Sharp World Cup Coverage

During the 2006 FIFA World Cup tournament, a range of broadcasters, including BBC Resources Post Production, Televisa, and TV Azteca, turned to digital content creation solutions from Avid Technology Inc. to deliver up-to-the-minute coverage to millions of viewers around the globe.

BBC Resources Post Production deployed its first completely tapeless HD workflow using a combination of Avid Media Composer Adrenaline, Avid Unity, Avid AirSpeed, and Symphony Nitris systems. With these systems, BBC Resources shared content across multiple geographies and produced daily highlights packages in Avid DNxHD. Televisa, the broadcast division of Grupo Televisa S.A., deployed three Avid Deko 3000 character generators and two Thunder graphics servers to create on-air graphics for live coverage and news highlights packages.

TV Azteca relied on Avid equipment cover the World Cup in HD, including an Avid Unity shared-storage system; multiple seats of Avid Xpress Pro software; a range of Media Composer Adrenaline systems for producing Avid DNxHD media; one Symphony Nitris workstation, and a Digidesign Pro Tools HD digital audio workstation. TV Azteca delivered live game broadcasts and highlights for sports shows produced on location in Germany and distributed to audiences in Mexico, Central America and the U.S.
