NEP Studios has created a new control room for "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" around the Solid State Logic C100 digital broadcast console.
The SSL C100 is the digital audio hub for the facility--named Studio 52 after its 52nd Street location in New York City--and can handle production additions including 5.1 audio/production mixing.
"Daily Show" Audio Engineer Tim Lester said he is pleased with the C100--it will bring the show to the next level that could involve live music segments, he said.
New features of the C100 with Version 2 software include the TouchPan, which provides full 5.1 panning access from the central touchscreen, with color-coded displays and control of all surround parameters. Version 2 also includes new channel TFT graphics, enhancing the operators' overview through per-channel display of processing, panning and source allocations. In addition the software supports new I/O expansion for the Centuri core, expanding the mix input capacity within the processing chassis.
