BendBroadband Taps nCUBE For HDVOD

(February 11, 2004) Portland, OR--nCUBE has been selected by BendBroadband to deliver high definition video-on-demand (HDVOD) to the cable operator's Central Oregon subscribers. This deployment marks the first rollout of HDVOD using nCUBE's on-demand video server and nABLE interactive management software.
Following a $12 million upgrade to its headend and network infrastructure in July 2003, BendBroadband plans to offer its digital cable customers the ability to view HD movies and local programming, and subscription video-on-demand from programmers such as HBO and others at the customers' convenience with pause, rewind, and fast-forward capabilities using their remote controls. BendBroadband will begin testing the system in March. The on-demand service is expected to launch in May.
nCUBE has also recently rolled out VOD to Charter Communications customers in Reno, NV, also with the nABLE software.
