Avantegarde Acoustics relies on Gefen HD splitter/switcher

When Avantgarde Acoustics of Frankfurt, Germany, wanted to augment its audio system with HD visuals at its private showroom in Huntington Beach, CA, the company turned to Gefen.

Avantgarde Acoustics' flagship horn speaker system creates an auditory experience like that of listening to live music. David Day, head of the company's U.S. business operations, envisioned a showroom as a real-world environment to show how the system could be used in a variety of applications. From this, the room became a faux media room, sports bar and recording studio.

Day equipped the 20ft by 25ft room with a 110in Da-lite screen fed by a Sony VW100 projector, three 26in Sony LCD displays with access to an HD cable box and a Microsoft Media Center.

Audio from each source is fed into the company's Triand complement of six bass horns, while HD video is delivered to multiple outputs. To enable simultaneous viewing on the displays and projection screen, Day added the Gefen 2x4 HDMI switcher/splitter to the equipment rack.

The unit accepts two HDMI AV inputs, and outputs either source to four HDMI displays and/or projectors, supporting up to 1080p HD video resolution.
