Students at Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication soon will begin benefiting from a new partnership formed between the university and Weather Central.
The school is acquiring the Weather Central product suite, including 3D:LIVE, DCE and high-resolution worldwide mapping, that students will use to produce professional weather segments on Cronkite NewsWatch, the school’s evening newscast carried on cable television across the Phoenix area and online.
In August 2008, the new six-story $71 million dollar Walter Cronkite complex will open in downtown Phoenix. A terrace on the building’s sixth floor, overlooking downtown Phoenix, will be named the Weather Central Terrace in honor of the partnership. There, students will be able to use Weather Central technology on the Cronkite NewsWatch. Students also will be eligible for Weather Central internships.
Work is due to begin on the Weather Central implementation at the complex in the spring.
