Ascent Transitions Discovery Networks to HD

Ascent Media Group announced that it has completed the transition of six Discovery television networks to HD video. The upgrade program was completed over a six month period at Discovery Communication’s Sterling, Va., origination facility.

As part of an on-going relationship with the program provider, Ascent has been responsible for the design and construction of the Discovery HD infrastructure.

“In order to meet affiliate and subscriber demand for HD content, we needed a partner with design and execution expertise and supplier relationships necessary to complete this project on an extremely tight timeline,” said John Honeycutt, executive vice president and chief media technology officer for Discovery. “Ascent Media was able to meet those needs while making sure our customers and viewers received the superior video product they expect from Discovery.”

The HD buildout is aimed at satisfying growing consumer demand for HDcontent.
