All Mobile Video Provides Remote Production Coverage of New York's Thanksgiving Day Parade

For the first time ever, one remote production vendor was chosen as the primary remote facilities provider by all three networks broadcasting this year’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York.

All Mobile Video (New York) provided multi-camera remote production facilities for the CBS “Thanksgiving Day Parade,” as well as NBC and Telemundo’s “Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.” All aired live on Thursday, November 23rd.

CBS’ coverage marked the 46th annual holiday telecast from New York City, anchored this year by Hannah Storm and Dave Price, with Neil Patrick Harris reporting from the street. Performers included Josh Groban and Rascal Flatts. Performances from the Broadway shows “Jersey Boys” and “The Drowsy Chaperone” were featured as well.

Meredith Vieira, Matt Lauer and Al Roker anchored coverage of the 80th annual procession for NBC’s coverage, featuring appearances by Gloria Estefan, Julie Andrews, Barry Manilow, Sarah McLachlan, Hall and Oates, Cheyenne, Ciara, Diana DeGarmo, Chris Brown, Renée Fleming, the Jonas Brothers, Josh Kelley and Darlene Love.

Combined production resources utilized by the three networks included forty-three cameras, four EVS hard drive systems, seventeen DigitalBetacam and eight HDCAM and HDCAM SR video tape recorders. AMV deployed seven mobile production units for the Thanksgiving Day clients.

For NBC, AMV’s Titan and Titan B unit handled High Definition production and audio mix at Macy’s department store. In Times Square, CBS had AMV’s Celebrity, Celebrity B unit and NLE trucks with three production switchers and three audio consoles in service. Just south of Herald Square Telemundo used AMV’s Straight 50’ truck for their bilateral coverage with NBC. AMV’s Barney mobile unit was used to shoot CBS’s Rascal Flatts segment.
