Access Integrated Technologies’ Digital Cinema Satellite Service to Launch June 4

On June 4th, theatergoers could be watching movies (and advertisements) supplied to their local theater via satellite. Access Integrated Technologies Inc. (AccessIT) announced that its digital cinema satellite delivery service is expected to be fully operational by that date. AccessIT will operate the service from an Internet DataCenter in Los Angeles. AccessIT acquired the digital cinema satellite transmission systems from Boeing. The Los Angeles datacenter will be modeled after AccessIT's facility in Jersey City, N.J., and will use satellite and terrestrial fiber links to provide full redundancy.

Bud Mayo, CEO of AccessIT, described the operation. "By combining a dedicated datacenter with the Boeing Digital Cinema assets, AccessIT is able to provide the only tried-and-proven electronic delivery service designed to meet the unique requirements of the motion picture industry as it enters the digital era," he said. "Having a local datacenter that serves as a digital cinema distribution hub close to our movie studio customers will enable us to ensure those customers have fast, direct access to the highest quality service and support available. And with AccessIT's Jersey City facility providing additional back-up services, our customers can be assured that their data will be secure and accessible."
