Ritz Camera adds Kodak kiosks to 1100 stores

Kodak’s Picture Kiosk G4 speeds processing of digital photos of all formats.

Self-service applications for consumers continue to proliferate based on increasingly sophisticated kiosk platforms. One of the earliest and still most highly successful self-service applications for retail venues has been the self-service photo kiosk.

Eastman Kodak Company and Ritz Camera Centers recently announced a partnership to deploy Kodak's new digital photo kiosks in all Ritz Camera stores across the country, about 1100 locations. Ritz Camera will be the first retailer to install Kodak's new G4 kiosks, which produce digital prints in eight seconds -- 35 percent faster than prior Kodak models.

Introduced in November 2005, the Kodak Picture Kiosk G4 appeared at Ritz stores just in time for the busy holiday printing season. The kiosks offer performance improvements and new features designed to elevate and expedite the printing experience, including a high-performance processor that doubles the image upload speed from memory cards, thereby allowing multiple pictures to appear on screen for selection and editing in just seconds.

With this agreement, Kodak now has more than 70,000 photo kiosks installed at retail locations worldwide.

The Kodak Picture Kiosk G4 supports all popular digital media formats, including memory cards, USB drives, CDs and DVDs, as well as digital scanning and wireless printing via Bluetooth and infrared technologies. The kiosk also offers services beyond standard printing such as Kodak Picture CDs, a range of printing sizes and editing options, customized borders and photo calendars.

The high-performance processor combined with an improved user interface reduces transaction times and increases retailer productivity. The new design allows for easier serviceability, helping to maintain peak performance while simplifying upkeep for retailers.
