NMT, ESPN take on 10th annual Summer X Games

NMT needed about 400 engineers, technicians and production personnel were needed to cover the four days of live competition at the 10th annual Summer X Games.

National Mobile Television (NMT) and ESPN recently completed a large, complex teleproduction assignment with coverage of the 10th annual Summer X Games.

NMT, the exclusive mobile unit and infrastructure provider for the event, puts the complexity on par with the Olympics and ahead of the Super Bowl.

Broadcast in SD and archived in HD, NMT and ESPN partner twice per year to televise both the Summer and Winter X games in addition to the biennial Global X games and the yearly Great Outdoors Games. This year’s X Games were produced live.

The event required eight mobile units, 120 cameras servicing 158 positions, 120 videotape machines, eight slow motion cameras and nearly 2500 pieces of equipment that had to be tracked and shifted among the mobile units.

About 400 engineers, technicians and production personnel were needed to cover the four days of live competition (Aug. 5-8) from more than seven separate venues.
