French broadcast distributor selects DIVArchive

Front Porch Digital’s DIVArchive has been selected by the National Overseas French Radio and Television Company RFO (Reseau France Outre-mer) for a new installation in Martinique.

RFO was created in 1982 and broadcasts programs of the major national French stations, locally supplemented by regional productions, to people in the French Overseas Territories and Departments. The RFO installation of DIVArchive in Martinique will interconnect with three existing installations located in Paris, Guadeloupe and Guyana.

DIVArchive (Distributed Intelligent Versatile Archive) is middleware that enables interoperability between large digital media storage devices, video servers, editing systems and digital media workflow applications in the broadcast, media and entertainment industries. DIVArchive simplifies the process of preserving, managing and accessing content.

Over the four distant sites, DIVArchive archives and distributes massive amounts of broadcast programming to RFO’s affiliate stations throughout France. The DIVArchive solution allows RFO to replace its old videocassette tapes and manual storage and distribution system.

Christian Augereau, technical director of RFO, said that no matter the type of video clip, commercials, news clips, standby programs, features, etc., DIVArchive provides data access quickly and efficiently, with operations being managed as a simple extension of the broadcast servers.
