At GLOBALCOMM2006, Envivio showcased its MPEG-4 IP video systems working on a Sigma Designs-based H.264 consumer set-top box. The Envivio systems enable service providers to deliver quarter common intermediate format (QCIF), common intermediate format (CIF), standard definition (SD) and high definition (HD) IP video and video on demand (VOD) to all devices — from a mobile video phone, to a PC, and to SD and HD television sets — within a complete MPEG-4 environment and at a low bandwidth. The demonstrated video-over-IP systems can interface with any OSS billing and open standards-based VoIP systems.
The demonstrated solution highlights QCIF, CIF, SD, and HD IP video encoded by the Envivio 4Caster M2, B3 and HD3 systems for video quality at the lowest possible bit rates. The solution includes a consumer MPEG-4 set-top box with an EPG driven by the Envivio MPEG-4 Part 11-based technology as well as VOD and other features such as VOIP integration.
