Yamaha rolls out M5D, PM5D RH audio console software upgrade

Yamaha Commercial Audio Systems launched version 2 software for its PM5D and PM5D RH audio consoles at NAB2007.

The new software, offered as a free download, adds more than 30 new features, including:

  • Virtual Soundcheck, which allows an easy switch between live inputs and inputs from a multitrack recorder;
  • New effect library programs;
  • Built in de-essor and add-on VCM (Virtual Circuitry Modeling) effects such as analog modeled compressors and EQs (Comp 276, Comp260, EQ601), and OpenDeck tape simulation.

Effects can be used as additional 31-band GEQs, and all GEQs can be switched to PEQs. The channel move feature allows channels to be moved for layout reorganization.
