Veveo debuts Web video discovery service for mobile devices

Veveo recently debuted its vTap Web video discovery service for Apple iPhone and Microsoft Windows Mobile phone users, as well as Intel-based mobile Internet devices and Ultra-Mobile PCs.

The vTap service, available through the company’s Web site, allows users to search, browse and view Web videos available on the Internet from their mobile phones. With vTap’s character-based incremental search, users receive search results as soon as they type in the first character. The results are then refined as more characters are entered, enabling users to find what they want without entering full keywords or phrases. The solution also offers intuitive browsing support and dynamic clustering, with hierarchical organization of search results. To ensure that users of the vTap service have access to the most relevant Web videos, including long-tail content, Veveo maintains a comprehensive index of online Web videos that is continually updated.

Veveo plans to release vTap for Java-enabled phones, supporting users of phones from Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, LG and Sony Ericsson, in the near future.
