UNLV stores content with SGL FlashNet archive

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) has moved into a new production facility on campus and installed a FlashNet archive from Software Generation Ltd (SGL) to store its assets for the production of content at the school’s Hank Greenspun School of Journalism and Media Studies.

UNLV’s media editors use the SGL archive, under the control of an Avid Interplay system, and managers to archive and restore projects between its online Avid ISIS storage array and nearline network attached storage (NAS). The archive allows editors to manage assets from within the Avid Media Composer and Avid Interplay Access systems and negates the requirement of dedicated IT staff to perform archive and restore operations, thereby reducing costs and improving the workflow.

UNLV’s Journalism and Media Studies production facility houses a state-of-the-art production and media broadcast center. KUNV, UNLV’s radio station recently celebrated its 25th year on the air and UNLV TV, in its 16th year, showcases UNLV faculty, programs and events.

The archive installed by SGL was sold through systems integrator AZCAR, which helped design the new building infrastructure.
