Univision TV Group solves loudness with Linear Acoustic AERO.air 5.1

The Univision Television Group (UTG), the Spanish-language network in the United States, with more than 64 local stations in the United States and Puerto Rico, has standardized its stations on the AERO.air 5.1 audio processing solution from Linear Acoustic.

The Linear Acoustic AERO.air 5.1 provides UTG with the ability to handle embedded HD/SDI audio and a built-in Dolby AC-3 encoder in a single box. It also offers support for emerging technologies such as mobile handheld, Dolby AC-3 and Dolby E decoding/encoding, as well as Nielsen encoding to address code recovery issues.

The AERO.air includes multiple loudness controllers, dual upmixing and metadata management, as well as full-time two-channel downmixing to support legacy stereo or analog paths. UTG also selected the additional HD/SD-SDI input option for its AERO.air models. This option allows UTG to de-embed any of the possible 16 audio channels and vertical ancillary (VANC) metadata. A cost-effective option, this addition to the AERO.air eliminates the need to purchase additional stand-alone equipment to de-embed 5.1 surround sound in the AC-3 stream. Further, Univision will also have the option to easily upgrade to the most advanced features via USB, ensuring that its stations are always equipped with the most up-to-date equipment.
