Stratos Optical Introduces VMCR-CWDM Transport Packages

Stratos Optical Technologies will showcase the latest evolution of their digital video fiber optic media converter rack (VMCR) product line at IBC2007.

The Stratos family of digital video optical multiplexing/transport racks allow customers to preconfigure 16 unidirectional or 8 bidirectional channels in a 1RU package. The racks are compatible with all digital video rates from 19.4 Mbps ATSC through uncompressed SMPTE 292M HD rates.

Facing the studio is a 75-ohm coaxial BNC port. Behind this, an array of media converters feed a CWDM (coarse wave division multiplexer) that outputs all optical signals to a single transmit and receive optical pair. The VMCR-CWDM package enables users to plug a BNC-terminated coax video signal line into one rack and mate to the appropriate coax port in another rack, using fiber as the transport media. This allows multiple signals over a single fiber pair.

VMCR-CWDM HD transport packages are available for deliveries, too, and these support 8 bidirectional or 16 unidirectional channel systems.

Stratos Optical will be in Stand 3.154.
