Steinberg shows Nuendo 4, SyncStation audio environment at AES

At the recent AES show, Steinberg presented its Nuendo 4 audio software along with a prototype of its Nuendo SyncStation, a rack-mount SD/HD synchronizer that will be fully controllable from within the Nuendo software. SyncStation promises broadcasters extremely fast locking times to marry Nuendo’s studio production environment into any existing studio infrastructure.

Nuendo 4 is highlighted by its embrace of surround-sound workflow with dedicated tools and features a 32-bit audio engine. It comes with a full set of surround effect plug-ins and is set up for full project exchange with other leading audio and video editing systems. In addition, a state-of-the-art automation system combines recording functionality and track present management to speed up production workflow, while the control room feature eases integration into any existing monitor setup. The software features VST3 technology, a full suite of plug-ins and operates on both PC and Mac computer platforms.

SyncStation, now said to be in its final design stages, is a single-space, rack-mount device that allows Nuendo to lock to trilevel sync, distribute word clock signals up to 192kHz and communicate with external machines via Sony nine-pin, MMC or time code. With Nuendo, SyncStation enables such features as pull up/down, clock multiplication, GPIO interfacing and varispeed.
