The PDJ-A640 features an automated ingest process.
Sony unveiled the PDJ-A640 XDCAM cart system, a robotic archive system that can store up to 640 Sony Professional Discs, and can be used with up to four XDCAM decks, at NAB2006.
As one of the core products supported by the XDCAM Cart Partner Alliance, the PDJ-A640 gives users the flexibility of mixing XDCAM and XDCAM HD discs, which lets them store programs in different formats.
It also features an automated ingest process that allows program material to be restored simultaneously from multiple separate discs without user intervention.
The robotic system offers rapid file access, rich metadata handling and nonlinear access to stored content.
