Sony announces two new XDCAM EX camcorders

Sony has added two new camcorders to its family of XDCAM EX video products, including the shoulder-mount model PMW-350, its first 2/3in CMOS memory camcorder, and the PMW-EX1R with DVCAM recording capability.

The shoulder-mount PMW-350 camcorder has three 2/3in Exmor HD 1920 x 1080 CMOS imagers and a sensitivity of F12. It is studio-configurable, with time code I/O, genlock in and HD-SDI and HDMI out. The camcorder also features a DVCAM recording option.

Its design offers a low center of gravity and lightweight to ensure stability, while maintaining a familiar, conventional operational UI layout. With the lens-packaged model, PMW-350K, users can switch between auto and manual focus with a 16X zoom 2/3in bayonet-mount lens. It also offers automatic lens aberration compensation and independent focus, zoom and iris rings.

The PMW-EX1R adds DVCAM recording capability as well as an HDMI output, a higher-resolution viewfinder, cache recording and one-push auto iris.
