Sony Adds DSR-170 To Its DVCAM Line

Sony debuted the DSR-PD170, an addition to its DVCAM line of professional video equipment. In response to customer feedback, the DSR-PD170 builds on the features of its predecessor model, the DSR-PD150, and includes minimum illumination improvement for low-light recording, a 2.5-inch Hybrid LCD SwivelScreen monitor and increased adjustment steps on iris control. It enables digital component audio and video acquisition in the DVCAM and DV formats. Users can record up to 40 minutes on one Mini DVCAM tape or 60 minutes on the same tape in DV mode.

Other highlights include improved audio quality in the manual recording mode; a built-in lens cover for the lens hood and a larger handle, viewfinder and eyecup; a memory stick slot for still image storage; and audio features, such as a directional shotgun (mono) microphone and two independent professional XLR audio inputs. The DSR-PD170 will be available in December.
