Rohde & Schwarz Shows Latest Transmitter, Test Solutions

At NAB, Rohde & Schwarz highlights its air-cooled R&S Nx8300 family of medium-power transmitters, exhibited as an outdoor model for mobile TV, can output digital power as high as 1.8 kW in one rack. New amplifier technology and optimized cooling cuts energy consumption up to 15 percent.

For outdoor applications, the NV8303VO transmitter components integrated into a compact weather- and temperature-proof box. A redundant climate control system heats or cools the transmitter. Because it’s mostly independent of the local infrastructure, the transmitter is useful for inaccessible areas, or for new mobile TV and pilot-trial networks.

The NV8303VO supports common digital broadcasting standards, including ATSC, DVB-T/-H, DMB-TH, MediaFLO, DMB-T, T-DMB, DAB, ISDB-T, and the Brazilian digital broadcasting standard, ISDB-TB.

Rohde & Schwarz also showcases a new video signal generator, the R&S DVSG, which offers a variety of interfaces and test signals to cover the required test cases for TV displays. The DVSG generates uncompressed video and audio signals while it supports recording and playing MPEG-2 transport streams.

The R&S ETL television analyzer adds new options for MPEG-2 transport streams. Combining the functions of an RF TV analyzer, an MPEG-2 analyzer and a spectrum analyzer, the ETL serves as a universal test and measurement platform for broadcast TV transmitters as well as cable headends. The RS supports ATSC, DVB-T/-H, DTMB, DAB and DVB-C as well as the most common analog TV standards.

Rohde & Schwarz is at Booths C1933 and C1539.
