New DIVAsolo offers one-path solution for migrating videotape to data tape

Front Porch Digital has introduced DIVAsolo, an all-in-one path for migrating content from legacy videotape to high-density data tape.

DIVAsolo consolidates three technologies — the SAMMA Solo, DIVArchive and DIVAdirector — into a reliable, scalable system for migrating archives of all sizes.

The development of DIVAsolo was made possible by Front Porch Digital’s recent acquisition of SAMMA Systems, which offers systems to migrate and preserve videotape to digital files. DIVAsolo uses a SAMMA robot to provide real-time simultaneous encoding of content stored on videotape into digital files then leverages the DIVArchive content storage management (CSM) system to store and protect those files. DIVAsolo also incorporates a browser-based media asset manager, DIVAdirector, to provide desktop access to stored content.

DIVAsolo supports multiple encoding formats ranging from uncompressed through lossless JPEG2000 compressed for archive, to MPEG-2, DV for editing, and H.264 for proxy viewing.
