Mobile Threat Net keeps ENG crews safe in treacherous weather

Mobile Threat Net, a storm tracking system from Baron Services, provides current and forecasted weather information, such as radar, lightning strikes, hurricane and severe storm identification, for ENG assets like vans and helicopters.

The system was on display in several ENG vehicles at NAB2007.

The wireless weather data is transmitted through the signal of XM WX Satellite Weather. The mobile system can be used on any PC, laptop or tablet computer.

The system improves ENG safety, helping crews avoid threatening weather by displaying optimal safe locations for weather remotes. With optional GPS tracking, crews can monitor the weather situation in relation to their location.

XM’s S-band satellite transmission allows the system to continue to provide real-time updates regardless of the treacherous weather conditions.
