Klein + Hummel to show new active control monitors at NAB2007

Responding to requests from users, Klein + Hummel has made enhancements to its miniature active control monitors, resulting in the M 52 and M 52 D models, slated to be on display at April's NAB2007 in Las Vegas, booth #N7117.

The M 52 is a small, lightweight, portable control monitor featuring a 3in driver and upgraded, built-in amplification capable of producing more than 100dB. With a size of 4.75in x 6.9in x 4.6in and weight of 5.7lbs, the M 52 is ideal for portable and fixed situations that demand flat, accurate response where space is at a premium, such as small studios, broadcast vans and mobile rigs.

The M 52 is engineered for versatility with convenient control of volume and power on the front panel. In addition to new switching AC mains powering, the M 52 can be DC powered by a 12V-20V battery via four-pole XLR connector. Magnetic shielding and a resonance-free, all-aluminum enclosure allow the M 52 to be placed next to a computer monitor or disc drive with no interference or compromise in sound quality. It features a transformer-balanced, +6dBu XLR analog input, and can be mounted with optional hardware to almost any surface at any angle, as well as rack-mounted.

The K+H M 52 D is generally identical to its sibling model, but adds D-A conversion via S/PDIF and AES/EBU digital inputs that synchronize with any signal between 32kHz-48kHz at 24-bit resolution. The M 52 D input is easily switched between analog, digital left, digital right or both digital channels combined via input selection knob on the front panel.
