Harris to show high-efficiency PowerCD UHF ATSC transmitter
By TVTechnology published
Harris’ Broadcast Communications Division will exhibit a multi-cabinet version of its PowerCD high-power UHF ATSC transmitter at NAB2005.
Now shipping, PowerCD transmitters are engineered to provide the highest output power per kilowatt hour of electricity. The transmitters combine E2V's high-efficiency ESCIOT tubes with other Harris-exclusive correction and filtering techniques.
Operating efficiency is enhanced by:
- ESCIOT tubes' multi-staged depressed collector design;
- Harris' APEX exciter with its real-time adaptive correction (RTAC) for linear and nonlinear distortions;
- Other Harris filtering and correction techniques;
- Liquid cooling to minimize expenses by reducing transmitter facility heat load.
