Fujinon Focuses on New Smaller Studio HD Lens at NAB2007

At NAB2007, Fujinon will display, for the first time in the United States, its new XA22x7BES HD studio lens. The lightweight box lens is designed for operations using ENG-type cameras for studio applications as well as for those employing smaller field production units.

It features higher optical quality than standard ENG-type lenses, combined with the zoom and focus performance of a larger studio lens. It has a focal length range from 7mm to 154mm.

The XA22x7BES incorporates a belt drive for zoom and focus, enabling very smooth and precise operation. It features minimal focus breathing; 14-bit control (16-bit optional) with external port for robotics interface, and the front barrel will accept a 127mm filter.

"This is a new class of lens," said Fujinon Marketing Manager Dave Waddell. "It combines what is best about large, studio lenses in a smaller package for use with ENG-style cameras. Many broadcasters are looking to replace studio cameras with ENG cameras, but the optical quality and precision of zoom and focus functions must be at a very high level to make that switch. That's exactly where this lens fits in."

Also making its American debut at NAB2007 is the XA88x8.8BESM HD telephoto lens that features 88x magnification with a focal length of 8.8mm to 777mm telephoto. It is also available with Fujinon's patented Precision Focus Assist, a built-in feature that addresses precise focus issues in HDTV production stemming from the format's shallow depth of focus and the lack of size and resolution in camera viewfinders.

It is equipped with Fujinon's GO Technology that improves image resolution and chromatic aberrations at all focal lengths.
