Electro-Voice introduces new PL Series mics at NAMM

At the recent NAMM Show in Anaheim, CA, Electro-Voice introduced its new PL Series of microphones for professional live sound reinforcement and installed sound applications. Inspired by the PL legacy that began in the 1970s, the new PL Series is a comprehensive family of vocal and instrument microphone products featuring seven vocal models and three instrument models.

All PL Series models feature a non-reflective textured satin finish, high-quality fine mesh Memraflex grilles, shock-mounted capsules for low handling noise and polar patterns strategically chosen to deliver superb sonic performance with minimal off-axis complications.

The PL Series Vocal Group is headed by the condenser cardioid PL84 and PL84S (switched version) and are carefully voiced for intimate detail and presence. The other vocal mics are all dynamic, headed by the supercardioid PL80a, a robust, forgiving and EQ-friendly model, and its sister mic, the PL80c. The other three mics, the PL44, PL24 and PL24S, are all supercardioid dynamics.

For drums and instruments, the PL Series includes three additional models. The dynamic supercardioid PL33 is optimized for kick drum and low-frequency instruments. For toms and snare, PL35 features a physical design that eliminates the need for right-angle XLR connectors, minimizing cable clutter. Rounding out the instrument lineup is the PL37 small-diaphragm condenser cardioid for overhead cymbal, percussion and acoustic instruments.
