Discovery Communications, parent company of the Discovery Channel, has expanded its use of Teranex video processors.
Teranex’s 3RU and 6RU Video Computer platforms perform more than 15 trillion operations per second and allow for rapid tuning of software algorithms. Discovery has been using the Teranex 6RU most recently to convert HD 1080i60 content from the United States to 1080i50 for European distribution.
Discovery began using the Teranex Video Computer four years ago primarily for upconversion and downconversion. With the launch of Discovery HD and its international HD service, Dicovery’s crossconversion needs have grown.
