Digidesign has partnered with PMC of the UK to produce the RM1 and RM2 studio reference monitors.

Avid has announced that its Digidesign audio division has unveiled a new family of high-end studio reference monitor speakers, marking the company's entry into the professional speaker market. Digidesign also previewed the new Video Satellite HD Option that will be supported in an upcoming release of its ProTools software.

The Digidesign RMS professional studio reference monitors come in two sizes. The RM1 is a 5.5in two-way speaker, while the RM2 is a 6.7in two-way speaker. Developed jointly with UK-based PMC, the RMS speakers unite Digidesign's expertise in digital audio with PMC's legacy of cutting-edge loudspeaker designs and meticulous manufacturing.

The NAB2007 preview of future ProTools software included new functionality that demonstrated the firm's commitment to improving interoperability and networking capabilities with Avid video production systems. Headlining the Pro Tools technology preview is support for the new Video Satellite HD Option, which will allow ProTools HD users to work with full-resolution HD Avid video compositions with real-time transitions and effects, full track count and uncompromised mixing and processing performance.
