Dielectric Communications now offers a UHF low-RFR antenna for television broadcasting that is designed to reduce downward radiation, helping to alleviate concerns over RF radiation exposure in metropolitan or residential areas. The new antenna, which is suitable for digital or analog broadcasting, was shown at the recent NAB2007 convention.
According to the company, the TLP-LRFR provides a 300 percent reduction, compared with a typical UHF antenna with equal gain, in power density in the region surrounding the antenna by focusing energy specifically to the coverage area. Dielectric’s approach limits the power density to less than 50 percent of the maximum permissible exposure (MPE) limits for occupational uncontrolled areas.
The TLP-LRFR antenna is available in horizontal, elliptical or circularly polarized configurations. Additional features include a 5kW average power rating, a 1-5/8in input, slot covers or radomes, and a 1-degree standard beam tilt. Customization of the beam tilt, as well as the azimuth and elevation patterns, is also available. The antenna is lightweight with minimal windloading.
