Two awards will be presented this year, one for an outstanding product used in production and another for post production. Initial submissions for the award were solicited from the general membership of the CAS and were narrowed down to the finalists by the organization’s Tech Award Committee. The products include both hardware and software in use by sound mixing professionals.

In the production category, the finalists include: the Aaton Cantar X2 digital recorder; Lectrosonics Venue Series wideband RF receiver; Sennheiser MKH-8000 Series microphones; Sonosax SX-ST8D digital output mixer; and the Sound Devices 788T digital field recorder

For post production, the nominated products include: the Audio Ease Speakerphone; CEDAR DNS3000 dialog noise suppressor; Dolby Media Meter; Euphonix Artist Series MC Control; and the Lexicon PCM 96 signal processor.

The 2009 CAS Awards for Technical Achievement will be presented in a sealed-envelope ceremony at the 45th Annual CAS Awards to be held on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles.
