Branding System Does EAS Double Duty

Utah Scientific says its MC-40 HD/SD channel branding system is being used by a number of broadcasters as a standalone device to provide dedicated presentation for EAS messages downstream of master control switchers.

"Our partner, Heartland Video, recognized that many broadcasters making the transition to digital transmission needed a simple, cost-effective, and compact device to perform EAS insertion," said Tom Harmon, Utah Scientific president and CEO. "The MC-40 is the ideal device to fulfill that need, in addition to having the power and versatility to serve as a master control switcher or to integrate into a multichannel master control system."

When used for EAS purposes, the MC-40 receives the EAS text and audio messages from the station’s EAS decoder and then performs keying and audio message presentation on its own, with the requirement for any additional equipment.

The MC-40 is based on Utah’s MC-400 channel branding system and has two keyers, an internal logo generator and an audio clip store.
