‘Backseat TV’ From Sirius Wins CES Award

Backseat TV, an audio/video tuner from Sirius Satellite Radio designed for use in vehicles, has been recognized for advancements in consumer technology design and engineering by the Consumer Electronics Association.

Sirius Backseat TV received a Best of Innovations award in the 2008 International CES Innovations Design and Engineering Awards, in the “Vehicle Video Product” category. Two of Sirius’ radio products were also honored.

Backseat TV delivers live TV from Nickelodeon, Disney Channel and Cartoon Network to the video screens of vehicles equipped with a Sirius Backseat TV receiver. That way, kids can watch the cartoons in the back of the minivan while Mom and Dad listen to Sirius Satellite Radio up front.

The TV signals are sent by satellite with the rest of Sirius’ offerings.

Sponsored by the CEA and endorsed by the Industrial Designers Society of America, the Innovations Awards, now in its 17th year, honor excellence in consumer technology design and engineering. Honorees are selected by an independent panel of engineers, designers, and journalists.
